3 Reasons To Schedule a 60 minute Massage Session

In this musing I will cover 3 reasons to schedule a 60 minute session.

  1. New client: Have you ever scheduled your regular 90 minute massage session with a massage therapist you have never seen before, only to wonder when will the session end part way through the session?

For clients who are receiving a massage treatment from a therapist they have not seen before I highly recommend scheduling a 60 minute minute massage session. This allows both the client and therapist to see if they are a good fit and reduces the “ is this session over yet or when will this session come to an end” thought. Yes I acknowledge a 60 minute session is going to fly by, compared to a longer session. At the end of the session you can discuss or schedule a longer session with the therapist in the future.

  2. Allows for more regular treatments sessions

Scheduling a 60 minute session in place of a longer session may allow clients to receive more treatments in a month especially when receiving treatment for injury, chronic stress and tension, post surgery, and sports recovery. Depending on the desired outcome of the session your therapist may not be able to treat all areas of the body in one session. This is where returning for another session in the month can be helpful.

  3. Consistency

The more routine you are with receiving treatment the better you will feel. The frequency and length of service is factored into your desired outcome. A therapist may start a client on a biweekly treatment plan then increase the time in between sessions as progress is made. The therapist may also recommend stretches, excerises or other tools to help achieve the desired outcome in between your sessions.

  4. Final thoughts

Don’t get me wrong I love the longer sessions for multiple and personal reasons. I love providing them and I love receiving them. In the rare times I do see a new therapist I always schedule a 60 minute massage session.
